Where We Are
The Knoydart Peninsula is located on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, looking out towards the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck & Canna.

The Local Area
Car ~ Take the A82 to Fort William (approximately 2.5 hours from Glasgow, 1.75 hours from Inverness) and then the A830 to Mallaig (approximately 1 hour) from which point you can catch the ferry to Knoydart. Allow plenty time for your journey particularly in the peak visitor months of May to August.
Rail ~ The West Highland Line. For an unforgettable journey to Knoydart, why not take in the breathtaking Scottish scenery by train, travelling on the Scotrail West Highland Line from Glasgow to Mallaig. The journey takes approximately 5.5 hours, setting off from Glasgow's Queen Street station. For Harry Potter fans why not hop aboard the West Coast Railways 'Jacobite' steam train which runs regularly throughout the summer departing from Fort William. Finally, there is also the option of the Caledonian Sleeper Service between London Euston and Fort William if you are travelling from further afield.
Ferry ~ Once you have reached Mallaig you catch the ferry to Inverie Village on Knoydart with one of our ferry service providers. The journey takes approximately 25-45 minutes depending upon the boat being used, and make sure you keep an eye out for the wide variety of wildlife both around the boat in the sea and up above! Walking in from Kinlochhourn ~ The walk in to Knoydart shows dramatic features at their best. Although there are no difficulties and there are fine tracks and paths to follow, this is a particularly long route to do in one day. Many people therefore decide to back-pack in and camp at Barisdale, which allows the journey to be spread over two or more days.
